With the invention of video games that can be controlled by attaching a brain sensor to read our thoughts, it begs the question of when we will get to the point where students no longer have to write final exams, but rather will be given brain sensors to wear and will "think" the answers into a computer program. Will this help to reduce the incidence of cheating? Or will new ways of cheating emerg, such as "downloading" answer keys into our brains? #edtechsem

I at first thought it would be a huge step into future with the brain sensors. I have students who have Executive Control issues and the brain sensors would be ideal to get to their thoughts as they have a hard time scribing. I never thought about the aspect of downloading answer keys. Now that's a whole another ballgame. I believe it would happen too. Now you have me wondering.
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise for the comment! When I initially read about brain sensor control, I was thinking "What an invasion of my privacy, to be able to 'read' my thoughts!". And then in respect to Kristin's comment, I was agreeing that yes, it could bring about new issues.
ReplyDeleteHowever, to the contrary, it can actually be so very beneficial, a life-changing, life-improving technological "miracle"! This type of technology can be used for such a Humanitarian reason, to give people a voice that never were able to be heard before! For people to perform actions that they previously had no control over would be astounding! Think of people that aren't able to speak, and who may even have other physical impairments where they can use brain sensors to control lights, doors, entertainment devices (tv, dvd player, etc), to "write" an email, to "phone" a friend or family member, the possibilities can be endless! It can give a sense of freedom and independence that otherwise may not have been possible! This is a future to look forward to!
