Louise, you are not alone. I never thought about what happened to all of that waste either before this class. That is awsome that you showed the video from class to your students! It sounds like they took the information in and really thought about ways they could impact change :)
Maha: Wow those are great quotes! Especially the one about finding balance. My brother is somewhat addicted to his Iphone too. He is always checking his email or text messages, and now at family dinners when we all get into a debate about something, someone always ends up saying "get your Iphone out and check this fact...". It is important to find that balance with technology, because otherwise our personal interactions can suffer.
Theresa: Those video's are great. The candid views on technology that the kids share are really interesting. Not completely surprising, but it is interesting to see how they view the benefits of using different types of technology, as a few were different then I expected.
Liz: I was talking with a friend of mine the other day who lives in London and takes the tube to work everyday. We were talking about good books we have read recently and she was saying how she did not have time to read very much. I asked why she could not read on the train, and she said that she felt like she was being rude reading on the train because other people from her work got on at different stops. She said that she spends most of her time on her phone on Facebook, checking emails, texting, etc. It was interesting that she thought that reading a book would be considered rude, but being on her phone was not... Kind of ties in to Maha's blog this week as well.
