The video that Liz posted on her blog got me thinking about where we went for information before their was Google. I remember going to the public library to take out books for school projects. Even when I was in university doing my undergrad, we had to go to the school library to find copies of journal articles. There was very few articles available online. When I took my first course for my Masters this past summer, I actually went to the library to find a few books for a paper I was writing. I had found journal articles online, but did not realize that we could also get book excerts online now too! It was a ghost town up on the second floor of Dafoe. The only reason students were in the library it seemed was to find a quiet place to study, or to buy a coffee at Starbucks. It made me really wonder about when the future of our libraries will be? What will happen to all of those books in the future?
I was also thinking about the fact that we are educating our students for jobs that don't yet exist using technologies that don't yet exist. I was trying to think about what technologies will be created and came across this video with some crazy things that already exist!
